At Union Dental (with offices in Worcester, Shrewsbury, Marlborough and Milford) you will find a team of highly skilled and experienced dental professionals who are concerned with both your health and your comfort. Every time you visit our office, we want to ensure your teeth and mouth stay healthy and that you understand exactly how to care for your teeth, both now and in the future. We offer a wide range of dentistry services to ensure we can support you completely in maintaining your health.
Examinations: Regular examinations keep little problems from turning into big problems! When we see each patient at least twice a year, we can spot small cavities before they become big ones, and start treatment for gum disease that could save a patient’s entire smile. These regular appointments are a very important part of keeping your teeth healthy.
Oral Hygiene: Our stellar hygienists can clean your teeth more thoroughly and in different ways than you can at home. Their dental cleanings will give your teeth a beautiful shine and eliminate the plaque that would cause cavities.
Periodontal Care: It’s important to eliminate any signs of gum disease as soon as they show up. If you see bleeding when you brush or floss your teeth or your gums have puffy sore areas, let us know. We can advise you on the at-home changes you can make to eliminate the problem or recommend deep cleaning to treat signs of more serious gum disease
Sealants: For our young patients or those more prone to cavities, sealants keep bacteria in the mouth from attacking the crevices of the chewing surfaces of the teeth. They have proven to be excellent investments in preventing cavities.
Fillings: We place only tooth-colored fillings in our offices. Our patients love them because they never have to experience the darkening that occurs with metal fillings.
Crowns: Crowns protect and strengthen teeth that have suffered damage. A cracked tooth or a tooth that required a large filling can be preserved by placing a clean, white crown over it. With the simple step of placing this crown, a patient’s smile can be enhanced and the longevity of damaged teeth can be greatly extended. We recommend crowns for teeth that have had root canal therapy or when a tooth has suffered an impact injury. Crowns also conceal teeth that have darkened or that are irregularly shaped. In a short time, crowns can greatly improve both the strength and appearance of a smile.
Dental Bridges: Fast, effective tooth replacements can be accomplished with dental bridges. A bridge is composed of two crowns with a replacement tooth positioned between them. First, the teeth on either side of a gap are prepared to have these crowns placed over them. Then the bridge is securely cemented to the prepared teeth. The bridge is manufactured to fit precisely into the patient’s smile. In just a couple of visits, the tooth replacement is complete.
Root Canal Therapy: With root canal therapy, we can preserve a tooth that has been injured or damaged by decay or infection. We must first open the top of the tooth and remove the infected soft tissue at the core of the tooth. We then replace this tissue with sterile material and close up the tooth. With care, teeth that have been through this procedure can last the rest of a patient’s life. We recommend a crown to strengthen the tooth after root canal therapy.
Extractions: Simple to surgical extractions can all be performed at our Union Dental offices. Our dentists are extensively trained and highly experienced in all types of extractions, including those for impacted wisdom teeth or situations where bones are fragile or where roots are curved or tangled. Many dentists refer patients needing extractions to other dental offices, but our dentists and staff are trained to perform smooth extractions. We also know how to keep each patient comfortable during this procedure. We make sure each patient knows what actions we are going to take before we start so there are no surprises. If a patient needs us to pause for a moment, we give them the time they need before resuming.
Dental Implants: With dental implants replacing lost teeth, it can be almost like you never lost any teeth at all! Finally, your replacements can look, feel and act just like your natural teeth. A titanium post substitutes for the root and stably anchors your new tooth. Because the titanium fuses with your jawbone, implants won’t slip or fall out. There are no dietary restrictions with dental implants; you can eat your favorite foods. With proper care, your dental implants can last a lifetime.
Dentures: No matter what your denture needs, we can help. We offer snug-fitting partial dentures to replace a few teeth and complete dentures to restore your smile after total tooth loss. In both situations, our concern is that your dentures fit perfectly and allow you the most normal function possible. We also offer our patients “implant dentures” which are dentures secured by dental implants. This type of denture can replace either upper or lower teeth. The first step after tooth removal, once the bone heals, is to carefully select the number and pattern of implants that will secure the denture. The implants are placed and allowed to heal while natural-looking dentures are manufactured to fasten securely to the implants. Finally, you can have dentures without worrying about them shifting or coming loose.
Dental Bonding: The use of versatile dental bonding material enables us to offer fast repairs and cosmetic improvements. Dental bonding material can be exactly matched to a patient’s tooth color and then we can quickly repair chips or fractures. We can also make the shape of a patient’s teeth more uniform and eliminate unattractive spaces between the teeth. A discolored tooth that won’t respond to whitening can also be concealed.
Porcelain Veneers: These thin porcelain shells can be used to repair the appearance of a single tooth or they can be placed over the front of all the visible teeth as part of a cosmetic treatment plan. Our patients can quickly achieve the smile of their dreams. Even moderate misalignment of teeth can be corrected as veneers are placed.
Teeth Whitening: We are getting excellent results with the Zoom! in-office and at-home whitening procedures. If you are tired of dingy teeth, please contact us to learn how the Zoom! system can give you a bright new smile.
Crowns: Crowns can also be used in a cosmetic dentistry plan. Broken, misshapen or severely discolored teeth can be improved with a bright new crown.
